ASUS has unveiled its RT-AC5300. The company claims it to be the fastest router in the world and poses a stiff challenge to Google’s US$200 OnHub. The router from ASUS has a strange and yet attention grabbing appearance and seems to have stepped right out of a science fiction movie.
The Taiwanese giant’s new router is touted to be the best for 4K video streaming, gaming and building a fast and swift network of computers. As compared to the regular and commonly used tri band routers, ASUS’s new router RT-AC5300 is slated to deliver a performance much superior to the existing routers and have a speed in excess of 67 percent as compared to the traditional routers.
Over a connection of 2.4 GHz, the ASUS’s router is slated deliver a speed equivalent to 1 GBPS and on two 5 GHz connections, the router is capable of delivering a speed of 2.167 GBPS. The router features Wave 2 technology and gives a major fillip to 802.11ac generation WIFI routers. However, one of the major constraining factor for the ASUS’ router is its prices which is predicted to be in the range of US$270 making it US$70 more expensive than Google’s OnHub.
If you prefer performance over price and don’t mind shelling out a few extra bucks, ASUS RT-AC5300 is a good bet. It is a router which is quite efficient for live streaming of High Definition videos and playing HD games online. It is also a good choice if you want to run several devices on a single network, it is a highly useful router to be installed. However, before you shortlist on spending a substantial sum on this router, please check if you have an internet connection good enough to let you make the most of this highly expensive router.
