Tor messenger allow anonymous chat

For the users who are concerned about the security of their messages when they chat online via various messaging apps, there is a good news in the form or Tor Messenger. Tor Messenger is a product of the Tor Project which operates the Tor Network. Tor Project is a non-profit organisation that is primarily concerned with the safety of the online users.

The Tor Network is a secure network that enhances the security and the privacy of the users making it difficult for the attackers and hackers to snoop on them when they are online. The new messenger that has been named Tor Messenger by the Tor Project uses the transmission protocols of Instantbird. The Tor Messenger’s beta version supports off the record or ORT cryptographic protocol that do not exist in the original Instantbird messenger.

The beta version of this new messenger supports various regular messaging services that include Google Talk, Yahoo messenger, Twitter, IRC and Facebook Chat. For the users, it will give a similar feel of using their regular apps whereas at the backend their messages will be a part of the secure transmission.

All the communication over Tor messenger will be hidden and encrypted and will be transmitted though server routes that will remain hidden. Currently this messenger is available for Windows, Linux and Mac. Tor Project has always tried to provide a secure network to its users.

The new beta version of Tor Messenger is a step in this direction. Users no longer have to worry about their privacy being compromised. However, it will also mean that many of the messages that the governments or the intelligence agencies world over could also not be tracked. The services of this messenger can be misused by the terrorist organisations for sending secret messages without the fear of getting caught.

Staying Anonymous

Alright Guys, this is the first post of this blog. But I won't waste time with formalities. But before you become a hacker, you must know how to stay anonymous online. There are various levels in which this can be done
(Note: None of these methods are completely foolproof. If you are doing something illegal, then you'll go to jail. That's it.)

Tails OS

"Tails is a live system that aims to preserve your privacy and anonymity. It helps you to use the Internet anonymously almost anywhere you go and on any computer but leaving no trace unless you ask it to explicitly."

This is what their official website has to say about it. Actually, it is nothing but an OS that comes with all applications customized for privacy and anonymity.

Thats what tails OS looks like.

How To Use

1. Go to their official website and read the stuff there. 
2. Download the latest version of the OS.
3. Put it on a USB and boot.
4. Explore the OS, and learn more about it from their documentation.

Once you are through with the documentation and have practiced enough with the OS, your identity is safe.

Tips

1. You should have some experience with linux if you want to become a hacker. Ubuntu is good for beginners.
2. Do not assume that you are completely anonymous. You are not.

TOR BROWSER BUNDLE

"The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked.

If the idea of downloading a whole OS sounds boring to you, then this browser is made for you. It, however, is not as robust as tails, and its usage is limited to anonymous browsing.

How To Use

1. Go to their website and read the documentation.
2. Download the latest browser bundle.
3. Read the documentation.
4. Install and run.

Note:

Browsing is annoyingly slow, since the traffic passes through three relays.

Instalar Tor en Kali Linux

Para aquellos usuarios que les encanta navegar por  "Onion" les traigo el tuto de como instalar y ejecutar TOR en Kali Linux y la solución del error: "The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root. Exiting."

De igual forma esto es para aquellos que aun no entran a la denominada por muchos "Deep Web" osea Onion, así que si quieres entrar a la Deep Web con Linux este es tu tutorial.

1.- Abrimos una consola de comandos y ejecutamos lo siguiente:

apt-get install tor

2.- Descargamos nuestro paquete correspondiente según la arquitectura de nuestra pc ya sea 32 o 64 bits lo descargamos en:

https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en

Estando ahí escogemos nuestro lenguaje en Español y damos clic a Dowload Browser Bundle

3.- Una vez que ya tenemos descargado nuestro paquete nos vamos a la carpeta donde lo guardamos, desde la consola claro.

Yo lo baje desde Google Chrome así que estaba en la carpeta "Downloads" entre a ella abriendo una consola y ejecutando:

cd Downloads

4.- Estando dentro de el directorio damos "ls" para saber el nombre de nuestro tar.gz y así poder extraerlo.

lo extraemos con:

tar -xvzf nombredetupaquetetar.gz

en mi caso fue a 32 así que seria

tar -xvzf tor-browser-gnu-linux-i686-2.3.25-10-dev-es-ES.tar.gz

5.- Ahora entramos a la carpeta que te creo con el nombre de tu paquete en mi caso:

cd tor-browser_es-ES

6.- Ejecutamos TOR con

./start-tor-browser 

Si te lanzo el "Panel de Control de Vidalia" no necesitas mover nada mas pero si te salta el error o simplemente no te ejecuta nada haz lo siguiente:

Solucion al error "The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root. Exiting."

1.- Accedemos al directorio donde se encuentra TOR como le hicimos anteriormente con "cd Downloads" y luego " cd tor-browser_es-ES"


2.- Estando ya en el directorio ahora vamos a editar el archivo del lanzador de TOR con el siguiente comando:

nano start-tor-browser

Estando ahí buscamos donde diga:

"The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root. Exiting."

podemos hacerlo mas rápido tecleando "Ctrl + W" y ahí escribiendo not be run as root y luego dando Enter

3.- Ahí veremos el siguiente código:

cambiaremos el valor 0 por 1, este aparece justo después de if [ "`id -u`" -eq 
Quedando de esta manera:

if [ "`id -u`" -eq 1 ]; then
complain "The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root. Exiting."
exit 1
fi

4.- Ahora guardamos cambios con "Ctrl + O" luego damos Enter para confirmar, salimos con "Ctrl + X"


5.- Ahora volvemos a  ejecutar nuestro TOR:

 ./start-tor-browser 

6.- Esperamos que nos abra el "Panel de Control de Vidalia" y luego nos abra el Mozilla que trae como portable TOR.

Listo ahora tenemos corriendo TOR en nuestro Kali Linux !!!
