Digital Impacts On Political Affairs

Digital Impacts On Political Affairs

In the past two decades, the internet has left virtually no area of our lives untouched. Whether it be commerce or communication, we're increasingly using digital technologies to keep us informed and help us take action.

The realm of politics is no exception to this. Although many of our political institutions may be hundreds of years old, they are not immune to the effects of the digital revolution.

One of the key areas in which the greater public come into contact with the political establishment is through the form of voting. But ballot boxes may soon be a thing of the past, as the advanced democracies of Switzerland and Estonia have both recently carried out the first successful examples of electronic voting.

Despite some reservations about the possibilities of hackers being able to sabotage such an important activity, the voting was by large judged to be a success. Similarly, over the years it has become common practice for bookmakers to offer odds on big political events, and as the Coral site shows, it's now easier than ever for the public to quickly get a digital overview of the changing political environment.

The ability to provide the populace with a much more liberated flow of information about political events has also caused many dramatic changes in society too. The Arab Spring uprising was one of the first instances of revolution that was thought to have been facilitated by the use of mobile technologies to spread information and assemble like-minded individuals.

Such instances have frequently been seen through political organisations using social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook to increase their popularity and communicate directly to their followers. Whilst the rise of easily-accessible information regarding political and social affairs can be liberating for many individuals, the fact that Islamic State have successfully used social media to recruit new followers has provided a chilling reminder as to how powerful these new technologies can be.

Another controversial way in which digital technologies have changed the political environment can be found through the practices of hacking and leaks. The Wikileaks controversy showed how a vast amount of confidential information could instantly be disseminated across the globe, and the Edward Snowden affair has illustrated the way in which many of our governments are involved in surveillance activities upon our day-to-day lives.

So whilst the digital revolution has provided all of us with a dramatically increased access to political information, it can also have many more sinister effects too.

How The 3D Glass-Free Display Technology is Gaining Traction

How the 3D Glass-Free Display Technology is Gaining Traction?

When we go to the movie theater to watch a 3D movie, a 3D spectacle is given to us so we can watch and enjoy the movie to the fullest. What if we can enjoy the movie without the 3D glass? Is that possible at all?

You’d be delighted to hear that it’s perfectly possible and works are currently going on in this direction. In this article, I’ll discuss some of the achievements of the glass-free 3D display segment.

Nintendo 3DS
A Nintendo 3DS costs you around $200, but what the device gives you is totally worth the money that you are paying. Imagine Super Mario is coming out of your screen. Cool, isn’t it? What makes it even more sought after is you don’t need 3D glasses.

Not only Super Mario but you’d be able to play plenty other cool games. Some of those games are Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Metroid, etc. Buying the Nintendo 3DS hand grip device lets you enjoy all those games. What’s more is the face detection technology, embedded with the device.

The face-tracking technology helps you have an immersive experience. The device allows users to take 3D photos and render 3D videos, which is the bonus.

Autostereoscopic screen
The concept that underlies the autostereoscopic screen is called parallax.  The parallax barrier is a device, placed in front of liquid crystal display, which results in the viewer seeing a stereoscopic image.

The stereoscopic screen ensures two eyes see two different images. When 3D glasses are used, the polarized light causes an image to split up. An autostereoscopic screen, with the help of the parallax barrier, does the same without requiring the glasses. There are some downsides of the 3D stereoscopic display.

The downsides include reduction of the display resolution. Due to this, it becomes incredibly difficult to view a full HD screen. The autostereoscopic screen is it requires multiple perspectives, whereas 3D glasses require only two perspectives. This is another limitation of the autostereoscopic screen.

3D conversion
It might appear like an off-topic because glass-free 3D display and conversion to the 3D format seem difficult to relate to. In reality, however, the two can very well relate to each other. Just as 2D content can be converted to the 3D format, the same way, 3D with glasses can be converted to 3D without glasses in real time.

Some 3D companies are bringing automated solutions, which eliminate the need for human intervention. The solution comes in the form of a device, which you need to plug into your 3D set-top box. The only bottleneck is the conversion is currently restricted to the large screen. Bringing it to the small screen appears difficult.

4K monitor
4K and 5K Ultra-HD (UHD) monitors offer standout picture quality without the viewers to having to wear 3D glasses. Cutting edge 4K and 5K monitors support nearly 28 viewing angles. Because of that, the viewer can even take a stroll around the circumference of the monitor, and can still see all the 3D effects quite clearly.

The differences in the image quality can be spotted by even the most inept eyes. When someone is watching a movie with lots of cool cgi effects, he can see each and every character clearly and distinctly. An ordinary television cannot adequately show the differences in depth levels. The placement of every character and object within the screen can be accurately identified.

The Smartphone vertical
For a long time, the glass free Smartphone has been a concept. It is finally implemented. The VKWorld Discovery S1 is the first of its kind. The Smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch screen with 720 x 1280 resolution and 267 pixels-per-inch.

Virtual reality on the Smart platform is nothing new. Even 2K Smartphones can allow for the rendering of 3D virtual if you integrate it with the Google Cardboard. A highly equipped state-of-the-art Smartphone doesn’t require Google Cardboard, yet it enables its user to enjoy virtual reality.

The future
There’s hardly any doubt that the glass-free 3D display technology still has miles to travel before we can call it success. However, the discussion in this article shows it has somehow managed to pad out an acceptance already. In the future, we’ll see many more innovative changes in this vertical.

Mark Zuckerberg Wife Priscilla Chan Are Opening A Free Primary School

Mark Zuckerberg Wife Priscilla Chan Are Opening A Free Primary School.

Priscilla is a doctor and going to start a Primary school in Silicon Valley town. She also working over the past year with the community to  combine early-childhood through 12th grade education with pre-natal support and on-site healthcare for children.

Mark official announced in his FB Page,

"I'm so proud of Priscilla for starting The Primary School -- a new kind of school that brings education and healthcare together.
Health and education are closely connected. When children aren't healthy, they can't learn as easily. Many kids and teachers across the country deal with the consequences of poor health in classrooms every day.
Priscilla has seen this in her work as a pediatrician and a teacher, so over the past year she's been working with our local community to set up a new type of school in East Palo Alto. In addition to early childhood and K-12 education, The Primary School will also provide prenatal support for families and on-site healthcare for children. By bringing healthcare and education together in one place, the goal is to support families and help children from underserved communities reach their full potential.
On a personal note, it's inspiring to see Priscilla grow as an entrepreneur and leader. I'm looking forward to watching with pride as she develops The Primary School into a great resource for our community.

What Does It Take To Create A Viral Marketing Video?

What Does it Take to Create a Viral Marketing Video?

Have you heard of those viral marketing videos that get shared hundreds of thousands of times, reach millions of people, and help generate immense sales figures?

If you have and you’re looking to create your very own viral marketing video the first thing you need to do is temper your expectations.

Take a look at the marketing videos that have gone viral recently and you’ll notice that most either feature celebrities or big brands, or are some strange and spontaneous ‘one-off’ event that can’t be emulated (although many people try, and fail). Make no mistake, this doesn’t mean that you can’t create a viral marketing video – it just means that you shouldn’t get into it expecting to get hundreds of thousands of shares.

Focus on Creating a Video that People Want to Share

As with any viral video, the main idea is to generate exposure by convincing people to want to share it. So ask yourself: Why do you share some videos and not others? In most cases it boils down to a question of whether you feel that video is useful, humorous, shocking, inspiring or appealing in some other way.

Sometimes it may even be a combination of those factors.

Use those factors as your guidelines when you’re deciding on the topic of your video and how it is going to be structured. One of the easiest types of videos that people find useful are video guides or tutorials, but there are tons of other options too that you can explore and look into.

Make Sure it Looks Professional

Above all else, you want to try to ensure that the video you create looks as professional as possible. Doing so encompasses numerous areas – but some of the basics include the overall video and audio quality, the recording quality, the voiceover, and any other extras that may add some aesthetic appeal.

To make sure your video looks ‘perfect’ you will need to be comfortable using the software to capture and edit the video that you need. If you aren’t quite sure about that, try the Movavi Screen Capture Studio out as it is easy to use and will act as a screen capture, webcam recorder, and video editor – all rolled into one.

Using it, you’ll find that you have total control over the video footage that you record and its features will not only allow you to set the screen capture region and frame rate, but also let you choose whether or not to capture keyboard and mouse actions too.

To polish it and ensure that it really does look as though it was professionally produced you will also have all the tools you need to edit your video. The Movavi Screen Capture Studio includes features that will let you cut and combine video segments, enhance the video quality, stylize the video with special effects and filters, and much more.

Take your time and be sure that you cover all the bases. Creating a viral marketing video takes time and effort – but if it starts to get shared widely (even if not hundreds of thousands of shares) it will be worth it.

5 Best Language Learning Tools

5 Best Language Learning Tools

Speaking a local language, or at least knowing basic words and phrases can make all the difference during your travels.

Whether or not you’re in a country where English is a first language, you’ll find locals will respond better if you speak to them in their native tongue. If you want to learn phrases other than “where is the nearest bank?” and “Thank you,” any of these five outstanding mobile apps (which may soon be available for AppleWatch) and websites will be vital.

Duolingo
A user-friendly website that teaches users an assortment of languages through simple drills. These exercises include a mixture of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The website also comes with an “immersion” section that posts real-world articles for users to practice techniques they have learned. There are social aspects of the app that allow you to view your friends’ progress and vice versa. The website currently offers lessons in 10 of the more popular languages like Spanish, French, and German as well as Danish, Irish, Dutch, and a handful of other languages.

Busuu
With an international community of over 40 million registered native speakers, this app relies primarily on its customers to help teach each other. Beginners start their lessons by using flash cards while advanced speakers are involved in writing and answering questions to be reviewed by fellow native speakers. Like many language learning based apps there is an abundance of languages provided. If users wish to apply grammar-focused lessons they will need to purchase the paid membership.

Foreign Services Institute
This high quality website designed by professional linguists from the U.S. government aims to guarantee fluency. The lessons are based on grammar and repetition. As many other language based websites this one offers the more popular languages as well as some of the lesser studied languages like Igbo, Serbo-Croatian, and plenty more.

Memerise
As the name suggests, this app teaches users how to speak Spanish by having them memorize different words. This app includes a multitude of different learning modules depending on the proficiency of each user. There is also a “250 most commonly used Spanish words” category that allows users to learn Spanish vocabulary by frequency. Each lesson consists of 15 words for users to learn.

Rosetta Stone
One of the most famous language learning tools, Rosetta Stone uses a very different learning style compared to the rest on this list. Instead of learning a specific language through English, for example you’ll learn how to speak Spanish through Spanish.  All of the words, phrases, and audios are in Spanish, giving you the full Spanish immersion experience. In addition there is also a platform where you can schedule live tutor lessons with a native speaker.

Top Coolest Tech For Teachers

Top Coolest Tech for Teachers

Classrooms as We Know Them
“Click-Clack.” For weary students, it’s nausea-inducing. For more enthusiastic pupils, the tapping is more mesmerizing. But it’s not the mystic white chalk that is being referenced. It’s the clicking of fingers on a laptop. That’s right. We live in an era where technology from tablets to AppleWatches has become so predominant in daily life that it has even penetrated academia and has entwined itself with instructing mechanisms, slowly altering the face of classroom interaction as we know it. Here are some of the coolest tech that teachers can use to revolutionize learning.

InfuseLearning
Caught in a hurricane of tasks? If you’re a teacher who is bogged down by a mountain of homework assignments to mark and other job tasks, as well as the burdens of personal life, lament no more. InfuseLearning is here to help you create free quick assessment quizzes. There are multiple question formats, ranging from your standard multiple choice selections to your extended text responses to now answers in the form of drawings. That’s right, you heard me. Drawings. And no, we’re not talking about some silly Etch A Sketch toy, but fully fledged response inputs to tests and quizzes.

This tech also allows teachers to stay up to the moment with student responses so they can even glimpse into kids’ study habits and schedules. InfuseLearning is packed to the hilt and its analytics even permit it to translate text into a slew of languages. Pick this up if you’re busy with quiz efforts but still want to see results. If only body toning were that easy…

SoundCloud and ThingLink
SoundCloud is a social platform where users can create both music and voice sounds and share their gem creation with others. ThingLink permits you to integrate video, audio, and text into images. These two platforms synergize and revolve around one another like two dwarf stars in technological unison.

Now how can teachers utilize them to optimize learning and classroom efficiency? Say it’s a social studies, geography, or world history class. Trawling over every location of significance on the map would be exhausting and time consuming; even an extended briefing might make the eyelids of attentive students heavy. This is where the tech duo comes in. Instead of pulling down an actual map, teachers can now make their own custom diagram and place hotspots around the map (usually capitals) which would be packed with narration clips, text, and video. Hey, this tech setup definitely beats the hassle of chalk, point stick, map, even laser pointers – and ensures increased attention spans.

Go!Animate
Go!Animate is definitely geared towards younger children and is more likely to be deployed in elementary classrooms than of those in subsequent education. Essentially what you do with this tech is choosing a couple of characters from a panel and submit a thin script. The online service converts your dialogue from text to speech. This is where the “Animate” in Go!Animate comes in. Once the simple procedure has been fulfilled, the tech allows you to create an animated video with sequences where your characters move and talk to each other based on your input. In homes the tech can string together entertainment or be exercised for recreational purposes, but in the classroom it can be used to create more engaging content and tutorials for younger students.

Leap Motion
You won’t find a significant portion of American students leaping for joy before they enter a classroom, but now teachers have a reason to leap for joy during class. Leap Motion is a motion controller that comes in a frame that resembles an iPod. It uses high-fidelity infrared LEDs which users can toggle computers from up to eight feet away. Its hand motion detecting capabilities nullify any need to be glued to a mouse, keyboard, or touchpad. Best of all, it’s compatible with both Windows and Mac.

This product grants teachers great breathing room and gives them the leisure to roam around the classroom as they never could before. This tech is not only easier on the neck and back, but less awkward and more engaging for students. A hunched over, restrained teacher is a distracted teacher who might discourage even the most vested learners.

Remind
No matter where you are, you see people on their phones typing away. Texting is so commonplace nowadays; why not incorporate that into your lesson plan and group text your students about looming agendas, current tasks, and other urgent matters? “Because you need their phone numbers,” you say. Well not anymore. Remind allows you to create texting distribution groups without going through the pain of fumbling for your mobile to acquire your students’ contact information or the unease of handing out your own.

This service is used solely to relay messages, and no personal information has to be exchanged. Even as just an option to your students, this could help them be more productive and never miss an assignment. Could this be a welcome mat to corporate espionage or the basis for a future loophole in dating? While those questions cannot be readily answered, Remind is certainly shifting networking inside and out of classrooms.

Classrooms Will Be Affected
We know just how impactful and inspirational teachers can be.The numerous enlightenment experienced at a tender age can be attributed to the figure with a piece of chalk in hand. They can forge and cement life goals and career paths. We’ve all been inspired at one point or another in our lifetimes by a teacher who helped us get to where we are today. Though the endpoint may remain the same, the means of education is being altered at this very moment. Living alongside the rapid advancements that dawned in the 21st century, those growing up right now and future generations may not even need to see the outline of white chalk or hear the click on the board to draw inspiration from education, thanks to the arsenal of cool tech that teachers now wield.

Iranian hackers targeting LinkedIn users.

A report emerged on Wednesday that Iranian hacking group known as Threat Group-2889 are targeting LinkedIn users through a network of fake LinkedIn accounts. The report was published by the cyber security firm Dell Secure Works which states that the security team has found 25 fake LinkedIn profiles. The researchers suspect that hackers were building the relationship with the potential victims around the world.

Dell Secure Works report stated that "  The level of detail in the profiles suggests that the threat actors invested substantial time and effort into creating and maintaining these personas. The photos used in the fake accounts are likely of innocent individuals who have no connection to  activity."

The profile photos used in those account are of people who had no connection with this hacking group. The report suggested that only two of these accounts are of leader figures with a profile which shows they are Recruitment Consultant. The other profiles shows that they holds an important position in industries like Banking, Automobile, Technology and many more. While the other accounts are there to support the leaders profile with endorsements and credibility to the leaders.

The researchers think that the main target of these hackers are Middle East. The top most targets of these hackers worked in telecommunication sector. Other major targets of these hackers are Middle Eastern governments and the defense sectors of Middle East and South Asia. The hackers were planning to get into these organizations database and stole highly classified data.

These hackers are identifying their potential victims by building a credible and  seemingly genuine and established LinkedIn personas. The threat actors can establish a relationship with targets by contacting them directly, or by contacting one of the target's connections. It may be easier to establish a direct relationship if one of the fake personas is already in the target's LinkedIn network.

The social media site LinkedIn has not yet responded to these reports but those fake accounts has been taken down immediately. Iranian hackers are previously involved in hacking incidents where they stole data of high ranked US officials with the help of LinkedIn and Facebook. But the Iranian government has denied any connection with the hacking group at that time.

Snapchat Will Reportedly Let Brands Sponsor Your Selfie

Snapchat Will Reportedly Let Brands Sponsor Your Selfie

Snapchat is photo messaging application that in 2011 created two students at Stanford, Evan Spiegel and Robert Murphy. The application lets you share photos (snaps) and story among users.

Thus, users can record Snapchat photos, video clips, add text or drawing and send them to a specific and controlled list of recipients.

At the first glance, it seems that the Snapchat is very similar to the social networks, but what makes it different from others is stricter control user privacy. When you submit your photo to a friend, it is possible that you specify how long a friend can see your snap or story. You can specify that your photo can be seen from December 2013 in the range of 1 to 10 seconds, after which it will be hidden by the receiver and deleted from Snapchat server. The same goes for the text that you share. The only difference between the publication of photographs and texts is that the published story will be available 24 hours and in that period of time you will be able to review it, if you do not delete it.

After 24 hours of your submission, it will be deleted. Snapchat is called the new Facebook as such a form of social networking could become the future of social networks, because of concerns about user privacy that is absent in other social networks. In addition, Snapchat constantly surprises users with the innovations. For example, once you have a story published, it has been deleted and starts a new one. Every day is a story in itself, makes you share your events at the time when you experienced them. Also, it is very popular among young people. The application is available for Android and iOS devices.

Snapchat is reportedly working on a new unit for advertisers where they will be able to insert adds directly in your selfie pictures.  Each day Snapchat is getting more and more users, and it is costing them up to $750,000 to reach their audience just for one brand advertiser. This form of selfie advertisement which basically will be ''sponsored lenses'' will be introduced to snapchat users pretty soon.  Snapchat marketing team believes that “selfie“ advertisement is the next big thing they can At the latest Cannes Lion International Festival of Creativity Evan Spiegel the chief executive talked about Snapchat's vertical video format which is going to help advertisers to convert it's users.

Snapchat now has a big step in front of them and this is how to convert it's users for their 6,000 advertisers. Just like in all social and messaging applications brands are looking forward to monetize their presence in this application as well. What is their next move and how they plan to increase the revenue for their company without placing too many ads or crowding their users it's still left to be seen. What we know so far is that all the biggest brands are interested and so is the Snapchat. All we can say now is time will tell.

iPhone 6S Plus Tips And Tricks

iPhone 6S Plus Tips And Tricks

The new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus feature 3D Touch for the first time, which opens up a whole host of possibilities when it comes to using your phone.

However, of equal significance may be the launch of Apple's newest operating system, iOS 9. Combine the new hardware features with the new software, and you're left with a phone that is practically all new. It may be called the iPhone 6S, but it really does represent a leap forward.

So, if you're thinking about picking up a new iPhone 6S Plus (and why wouldn't you, given that T-Mobile offers free 4G LTE data and Apple is offering payment plans for the first time), here's what you need to know to get the most out of your device. These are the essential iPhone 6S Plus tips and tricks!

Bring Your Photos to Life
You've likely heard about this one already, as it played a big role in Apple's keynote for the new phone. But, it's pretty impressive and kind of clever, so it bears repeating here. By default, any photo that you take with your iPhone 6S or 6S Plus includes roughly a second and a half of video footage. Apple calls them Live Photos. Whether you think of them as animated GIFs or mini (mini!) movies, the feature introduces a new way to enjoy and interact with your photos.

Tip: When viewing your photos taken with the iPhone 6S, simply press and hold, and the photos will come to life.

App Shortcuts
One of the biggest areas of focus for iOS 9 is making things even more intuitive and simple. Apple is continually improving its operating system with the goal of making things as easy and logical as possible. One new feature that people are sure to take advantage of is the app shortcut. Put simply, you no longer have to open an application to actually use the application. Apps can now be opened with a shortcut menu, which puts the most commonly used features right at your fingertips.

Tip: Press and hold on an app to get a mini menu of common features and functions. Want to post a photo to Instagram? You no longer have to open the app.

Get a Sneak Preview
The concept here isn't all that different from the apps shortcut function. The idea is to provide you a window into a commonly viewed media, like an email or web page, without having to actually open the file or page itself. For example, say you want to read the contents of an email without actually clicking on it and opening it in your email provider. Apple's new sneak preview function enables you to do just that; click and hold and a preview will appear. Remove your finger and the preview instantly goes away. Pretty useful, actually.

Tip: Press and hold on an email or website, and a preview will appear. To make the preview go away, simply remove your finger from the screen.

Turn Your Keyboard into a Trackpad
Fixing a typo or inserting a lost word into an email or text message can be a pain. Placing your finger at the right spot of the message and making sure you press just so is hardly the easiest means of making a quick correction. Apple seems to agree with that assessment, as the new iPhone 6S includes an intuitive trackpad functionality. In the event you make a typo or forget to include a word or two, you can simply hold down on the keyboard, and your screen suddenly turns into a trackpad. Navigate the cursor where you want it and be done.

Tip: Press and hold on your keyboard to turn it into a trackpad. You can then quickly swipe your finger back and forth to bring the cursor where you need it to be.

Speak to Siri on the Go
If you're one of those people who uses Siri for actual tasks, and not merely as a bar trick, you probably discovered long ago that one of the application's biggest downfalls was that you had to summon it by pressing and holding on the Home button. The entire notion of a voice command system all but demands that you should be able to use it without your hands. And though iOS 8 brought that dream to life, with the new iPhone 6S, "Hey Siri" has finally matured. When you set up your phone, navigate to Settings and toggle on the “Hey Siri” feature (it is now turned off by default). Complete the voice recognition activation, and now you (and only you) can speak to your phone.

Tip: Activate “Hey Siri” in your Settings, and you'll be able to call up Siri anytime, simply with a voice command – whether your phone is locked, turned off (not powered off, of course), or sleeping.

Google is Set To Launch its Background Play Service YouTube Red

Google is Set To Launch its Background Play Service "YouTube Red".

YouTube Sent the information to all companies that they have to agree to new terms by Oct. 22 or their “videos will no longer be available for public display or monetization in the United States,” helps support that timeline.

According to a report by Android Police, an update to the YouTube app includes text that describes a product called YouTube Red as the service that enables background playback, a feature that has long been restricted to Music Key (and Music Unlimited) subscribers.

For years, YouTube’s fans have been telling us they want more — more choice when watching their favorite content, more ways to support their favorite creators and, above all, the option to watch their favorite videos uninterrupted.
To give fans more choice we will be launching a new ads-free version of YouTube, available to fans for a monthly fee. This service will create a new source of revenue over time that supplements your advertising revenue. That’s why an overwhelming majority of our partners — representing over 95% of YouTube watchtime — have asked for and signed up for this service.
As you heard in our previous emails, we want to ensure that fans who choose to pay for an ads-free experience can watch all the same videos that are available on the ads-supported experience. That’s why we’re asking you to update your agreement to reflect the updated terms for the ads-free service.
To accept, simply log into YouTube.com as “pakafka” from a desktop or laptop and follow the prompts by October 22nd.
If you haven’t signed by that date, your videos will no longer be available for public display or monetization in the United States. That outcome would be a loss for YouTube, a loss for the thriving presence you’ve built on the platform, and above all, a loss for your fans. We remain committed to working with you, as we always have. And of course, at any time, you can accept the updated terms which will make your videos public and monetizable again. Common FAQs can be found here.
We believe these new terms will greatly strengthen our partnership for the future. We went through a similar process three years ago when we began distributing and monetizing your content on mobile devices. Today, mobile represents over half of all watchtime and mobile revenue is up 2x in just the last year. Just as with mobile, we’re confident this latest update will excite your fans and generate a previously untapped, additional source of revenue for you.

If you have questions or encounter technical difficulties, we’re here to help: reach out to us for support here.
