Jaguar Land Rover Chooses HERE To Navigate The Future

Jaguar Land Rover Chooses HERE To Navigate The Future

Press Release: 8th Apr 2015

Berlin - Last week's New York Auto Show saw the launch of the all-new Jaguar XF, the most connected Jaguar yet and the first to offer Jaguar's innovative InControl Touch Pro Infotainment System.

With decades of experience in developing location services for the automotive and consumer industries, HERE was a natural choice for Jaguar Land Rover to collaborate with for InControl Touch Pro. As a leader in navigation, mapping and location experiences, HERE integrated intelligent location technologies for the system, as well as for Jaguar's smartphone companion apps, giving drivers the smartest guidance experiences available.

Built on the HERE Auto platform, the InControl Touch Pro Infotainment System reimagines what's possible with connected car technology, with the most comprehensive set of driver-focused location services across multiple screens. With InControl Touch Pro, Jaguar XF drivers have a car that learns their commuting patterns and preferences over time, combining that knowledge with live information from the vehicle and its environment to deliver real-time and relevant information at the right moment.

"Today's drivers want more than standard navigation or a way-finding app," said Floris van de Klashorst, vice president of Connected Driving at HERE. "Together with Jaguar Land Rover, we have developed a guidance system that we believe stands out in the industry. It combines the intuitiveness of a smartphone with the benefits of being deeply integrated into the car, with the result being an experience that we believe drivers will enjoy day in, day out."

A new, more personal approach evolves from navigation to guidance

HERE Auto takes a new approach to guidance, going beyond navigation to give a personalised experience that intuitively guides drivers through their entire journey, both inside and outside the car. A continuous connection to the HERE location cloud enables InControl Touch Pro to anticipate drivers' needs, solving many of the challenges - from the complex to the mundane - that they face on every drive.

From planning to parking in one easy step
In the new Jaguar XF, the system actively syncs information from the driver's smartphone companion app or computer to the car, so they only have to enter a route once for the whole journey. Drivers can plan a trip at home and the route automatically shows up when they turn on the system in the car. If they make a spontaneous stop along the way, the system intuitively knows to keep routing to the final destination when they get back in the car.

The connection to HERE's location cloud means that as drivers near the end of their journey, the screen switches to approach mode, showing a street level view of their destination and one-touch options to find an available parking space. Images for the street level view and for the maps used by InControl Touch Pro are gathered and constantly updated by HERE's worldwide fleet of data collection vehicles. And when drivers park and leave the car, the journey continues on the smartphone companion app to get them to their final destination.

A car that learns your drive
In addition to the customisable home screens which InControl Touch Pro offers on its 10.2" touch screen, HERE Auto technology allows the Jaguar XF to learn driving routines over time, whether daily commutes, school drop-offs or regular pit stops. With personalized profiles, drivers can also customize one-touch recommendations for preferred fuel brands or other favourite destinations.

Traffic? We may have found the answer
A connection to live traffic information through the HERE location cloud means that InControl Touch Pro will automatically suggest alternative routes to avoid delays. HERE aggregates and analyses traffic data to reflect real-world road conditions, from sources including live probes, fixed sensors, government data and more than a trillion historical traffic records. With HERE's traffic data, Jaguar XF drivers can get to their destination faster and more efficiently.

Using HERE Auto technology means that InControl Touch Pro can offer in-car services once possible only on smartphones, such as sharing an estimated time of arrival with another person with just one touch. If the driver should later encounter traffic, the system automatically sends an updated ETA to the other person.

Connecting the car with the world outside
InControl Touch Pro is integrated with the Jaguar XF's in-car sensors and connected to the HERE location cloud. If they are low on fuel, drivers get suggestions for the nearest fuel stations from their favourite brand, or with the lowest prices to fill up at.

"Jaguar Land Rover understands that consumer devices have rapidly changed driver expectations so they turned to HERE for our deep experience in providing solutions for automotive and consumers," said Bruno Bourguet, senior vice president of Sales and Business Development at HERE. "As the only company that can deliver end-to-end connected driving services on a global scale, we are proud to continue our long term relationship with Jaguar Land Rover and enable their drivers to enjoy great experiences inside and outside of their cars."

"The automotive industry's focus must expand from the connected vehicle to the connected driver and ultimately to the connected customer," said Thilo Koslowski, Vice President and Automotive Practice Leader at Gartner. "Automotive market leaders will create a smart, cloud-based and cross-platform offering to provide customers with a seamless digital content experience across all of their devices, including the car."

Lenovo A7000 Top 5 Competitor

Lenovo A7000: Top 5 competitor
Lenovo is moving up in the smart phone industry. It slowly began producing some great products and now has numerous smart phones on sale. The company is working hard to tough competition to other manufacturers not only in the budget smart phone category but also in the mid range and high range smart phone category. Recently, Lenovo launched the A6000 at a mouth watering price to compete against some of the Chinese smart phone makers. Now, it is the newest Lenovo A7000 which has grabbed our attention.

Lenovo A7000 is low range Android smart phone with a display of 5.5 inches. It has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 267 ppi. Under the back panel is a 1.5 GHz Cortex A53 Octa core MediaTek chipset supported by Mali T760MP2 as the GPU. It has 8 GB of internal storage and a micro SD card slot which supports cards up to 32 GB. 2 GB of RAM help in multi tasking and a 2900 mAh battery keeps the phone alive. An 8 MP rear facing camera and a 5 MP front facing camera are also present. It is being expected that the Lenovo A700 will cost around Rs 12,000.  So, who are its top competitors and where does it stands, let us find out.

Nokia Lumia 640 XL

The Lumia 640 XL is a Windows-based smart phone but we are considering it as a competitor to the A7000 because it belongs in the same price bracket and has similar specs. It has a large 5.7 inch IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 259 ppi. The large beautiful display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. In terms of storage, the Lumia 640 XL has 8 GB of internal storage and supports micro SD cards up to 128 GB. The processor package of this Lumia device consists of a 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 Quad-core Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset. The graphics are dealt by the Adreno 305 and 1 GB of RAM supports this package. It runs on Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia Denim. 13 MP rear shooting camera and 5 MP front facing camera are also provided. Nokia devices are known for taking some really good pictures. The battery is a 3000 mAh unit which should provide a good battery backup. Unlike the Lenovo A7000 the Lumia 640 XL is a single SIM device.

Yu Yureka

This device here is being talked about a lot. It includes praises as well as criticism. If we consider the price point and relate it to the specs of this phone, then this is definitely the best value for money device. It has a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels generating an average pixel density of 267ppi. Under the hood is a Cortex-A53 Quad-core 1.0 GHz and Cortex-A53 Quad-core 1.7 GHz mated with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset. The graphics is handled by an Adreno 405. Plus 2 GB of RAM allows smoothing multi tasking. Having a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP camera on the front that completes the package. It also supports Dual SIM cards. But its biggest advantage is the software. It is running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with a custom build Cyanogen ROM. It provides a lot of customization to the users and Yu has also announced that customers will not lose the warranty of their Yureka’s even if they root them.

Moto G (2nd Generation)

Motorola made a fantastic come back with its Moto G. The device is now in its second generation and is still a solid performance package. It has a 720p 5 inch IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 294 ppi. It packs a 1.2 GHz Quad core Cortex A7 CPU with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Chipset. Moreover, 1 GB of RAM and Adreno 305 provides a smooth user experience. It is further enhanced by the almost stock Android experience. It is running the latest Android Lollipop. The 8 MP primary camera and a 2 MP front facing camera fulfils the optics of the device. It is a dual SIM device and has a 2070 mAh non user replaceable battery. Moto G is still sold only by online retailer Flipkart and has a reasonable price tag.

Asus Zenfone 5

Asus came out with its Zenfone series of smart phones last year. Among those the Zenfone 5 is a decent deal. It has an IPS LCD 5.0 inch display with a pixel density of 294 ppi. In terms of protection it gets Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by a dual core Intel Atom Chipset with PowerVR as the GPU. It is available in two variants – 8 GB with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB with 2 GB of RAM. The optics of the Zenfone 5 consists of an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2 MP front facing camera. It has a planned upgrade to Android KitKat but no news has been released for the Lollipop upgrade. It does supports dual SIM cards and has a non-removable 2110 mAh battery. The look of the device is pretty great and is available in a number of different colors.

Xiaomi Redmi Note

Launched a year ago Xiaomi Redmi Note is still a take away deal. Powered by an Octa core MediaTek Chipset the Redmi Note offers a smooth user experience. Xiaomi's MIUI running on top of Android Jellybean provides a totally different user interface. Its 5.5 inch 720p display has a pixel density of 267 ppi but still manages to provide a good viewing experience. It is a dual SIM device with an attractive price tag. The camera at the rear is a13 MP shooter while the front one is a 5 MP shooter. It has a gigantic 3100 mAh battery which should provide an outstanding battery life. The Xiaomi Redmi Note is a tough competitor.

These were the Top 5 competitors of the Lenovo A7000. Every device has its own pros and cons. Lenovo will soon launch the A7000 and we wouldn't be surprised to see it selling in decent numbers. If you're looking for a budget device then anyone amongst these wouldn't let you down.

Press Release:
 Nokia Announces N1 Android Tablet
Simplicity and design at the heart of Nokia's first brand-licensed product
Espoo, Finland - Nokia today announced the N1, the first Nokia-branded AndroidTM tablet. The N1 offers the innovative, predictive Nokia Z Launcher interface, and a carefully crafted industrial design by Nokia with a focus on simplicity. The N1 will be brought to market in Q1 2015 through a brand-licensing agreement with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partner responsible for manufacturing, distribution and sales.
"We are pleased to bring the Nokia brand back into consumers' hands with the N1 Android tablet, and to help make sophisticated technologies simple," said Sebastian Nyström, Head of Products at Nokia Technologies, who announced the N1 at the Slush technology conference in Helsinki. "The N1 has a delightfully intuitive interface and an industrial design to match it. This is a great product for Nokia fans and everyone who has not found the right Android tablet yet."
Consumers use and manage a large set of applications in their digital lives. The N1 makes that easy with the Z Launcher, which allows users to scribble a letter or two to find their content quickly. Over time the Z Launcher learns what applications are in use, and predicts and highlights the applications consumers are expected to want based on time of day and location.
The industrial design of the N1 is deliberately developed to match the elegant simplicity of the interface. It has a unique one-piece aluminum design with a soft finish in both Lava Grey and Natural Aluminum colors that make it stand out from other tablets. The 7.9" laminated display sits in a 6.9mm thin and light design that makes the device comfortable to hold even with one hand. A 2.4Ghz Intel© AtomTM quad-core processor provides great performance for the Android Lollipop operating system on the N1.
The N1 is planned to be available for purchase in China in Q1 2015 for an estimated USD 249 before taxes, with the anticipation of expanding sales to other markets.
In addition to the Nokia brand, Nokia is licensing the industrial design, Z Launcher software layer and IP on a running royalty basis to the OEM partner. The OEM partner is responsible for full business execution, from engineering and sales to customer care, including liabilities and warranty costs, inbound IP and software licensing and contractual agreements with 3rd parties.
The N1's industrial design and Z Launcher application originate within the Nokia Technologies business, which is focused on strengthening Nokia's industry-leading innovation portfolio through patent, technology and brand licensing.

War of Flagship Devices in India

This year seems to be “The Year” for launching Flagship devices in India. Not only the existing popular brands launched their flagship devices but new brands that recently entered the market did so. New enterers like Xiaomi hit the Indian Mobile market with their flagship device Xiaomi Mi3. Brands like Samsung, HTC, LG and Sony launched their flagship devices in the first half of this year.
Mobile store shelves are full of options to choose from. Mobile market in India has changed vastly due to emergence of online buying options; which offer detailed specifications, correct comparison of prices and products and help users make an informed decision like never before. Online buying is simple, easy and convenient. With Trusted sellers current sale figures for online sale will shoot up to reach new heights breaking all records.

LG Launched LG G3 on 21st July with great specifications, so it’s now time for some comparison between the flagship devices from these mobile handset manufacturing giants. We have considered flagship mobiles: Samsung Galaxy S5 from Samsung, HTC One M8 from HTC, Sony Xperia Z2 from Sony and LG G3 from LG for this comparison. We’ve considered these handsets as these manufacturers enjoy almost same brand value and trust. We shall compare these Mobiles on various parameters listed below.

Display:
If we consider screen size then LG G3 tops this with its gigantic 5.5 inches IPS LCD display followed by Sony Xperia Z2 which is 5.2 inches. For screen clarity and resolution LG G3 comes with 534 ppi followed by HTC One M8. Considering the screen type Samsung Galaxy S5 has the best screen type. It comes with Super AMOLED screen which offers sharpness and crispness to images and works fabulous with different viewing angles.

Processor:
Samsung Galaxy S5 poses two quad core processors (1.9 GHz Quad Core + 1.3 GHz Quad Core Processor) supported by Adonis Prime 2 which makes it extremely fast, this is followed by LG G3 Qualcomm MSM8975AC Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.26 GHz designed to offer lag free or shutter free performance. Technically All the four come with great processing speed where HTC One M8 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3 GHz and Sony Xperia Z2 with extremely powerful Qualcomm MSM8974AB Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3 GHz.

Photo and Video:
HTC added revolutionary ultrapixel technology to imaging experience on HTC One M8. This phone comes with 4 ultrapixels primary camera and 5 MP secondary camera. This device is designed to click better lit images, improvement of blurry images and great focus. For video it is 1080 px at 60fps. Sony Xperia Z2 sports a 20.7 MP primary camera with LED Flash and 2.2 MP front camera, this phone is water resistant so you need not stop clicking. This is followed by Samsung Galaxy S5 that comes with 16 MP primary camera and 2 MP secondary camera. Video recording 2160 px at 30 fps. This phone is also water resistant for one should not worry while clicking pictures near water body. Last one here is LG G3 which comes with 13 MP primary camera and 2.1 MP secondary camera. This is slightly lower than the other league phones for this comparison.

Other Features:
If look at unique features offered by these phones then Samsung wins our heart. This is designed to delight fitness freaks with its heart rate sensor. This is connected to an app that stores the data and shows it on graph. This phone is dust proof and water resistant, offers wireless charging, recently upgraded to 4G LTE. Offers amazing image stabilization and image merge feature. Continuous shots are shutter free. HTC One M8 comes with great body about 90% is metal, so does not give a feeling of cheap plastic body. BoomSound speakers are now moved to the front. But the freshness in HTC One M8 is due to the 4 ultrapixel camera. Sony Xperia Z2 offers great camera features along with 20 MP primary camera, phone is dust proof and water resistant. It comes with Scratch-Resistant Glass, Triluminos Display, X Reality Engine and Adreno 330 GPU.  LG G3 offers not too many improved features but two worthy to talk about are enhanced sound quality with Dolby mobile sound enhancement and stunning display.
These devices have hit market with some or the other great feature. Now, consumers have to choose what works best for them. They all are powerful phones bringing improvements from their predecessors.
