Microsoft Is Developing Own Linux Distribution

Microsoft Is Developing Own Linux Distribution

We truly believe that you people don't believe on this Title but its going to be true. As few month earlier Microsoft CEO Satya Nadela said, "Microsoft Loves Linux".

Microsoft’s version of Linux containers that can be managed both through Powershell and Docker’s command-line tools.

Docker and Microsoft are partnering to bring both Windows Server and Docker containers to Windows, and allowing developers to manage them with the standard Docker tools. That’s obviously a major win for Docker but also for developers who have to deploy their applications on Windows Server. Until Microsoft jumped on board, after all, Docker was mainly a Linux technology.

As Microsoft’s Azure CTO Mark Russinovich noted in a blog post earlier this week, “Linux containers require Linux APIs from the host kernel and Windows Server Containers require the Windows APIs of a host Windows kernel, so you cannot run Linux containers on a Windows Server host or a Windows Server Container on a Linux host.”

KAMALA SUBRAMANIAM, she is Principal Architect at Azure Networking wrote,

"At Microsoft, we believe there are many excellent switch hardware platforms available on the market, with healthy competition between many vendors driving innovation, speed increases, and cost reductions. However, what the cloud and enterprise networks find challenging is integrating the radically different software running on each different type of switch into a cloud-wide network management platform. Ideally, we would like all the benefits of the features we have implemented and the bugs we have fixed to stay with us, even as we ride the tide of newer switch hardware innovation.

The Azure Cloud Switch (ACS) is our foray into building our own software for running network devices like switches. It is a cross-platform modular operating system for data center networking built on Linux. ACS allows us to debug, fix, and test software bugs much faster. It also allows us the flexibility to scale down the software and develop features that are required for our datacenter and our networking needs.

ACS believes in the power of Open Networking. ACS together with the open, standardized SAI interface allows us to exploit new hardware faster and enables us to ride the tide of ASIC innovation while simultaneously being able to operate on multiple platforms. Running on Linux, ACS is able to make use of its vibrant ecosystem. ACS allows to use and extend Open Source, Microsoft, and Third Party applications. The main functional blocks from top to the bottom of the ACS stack are shown in the figure below."

“This requires that you obtain EU end users’ consent to the storing and accessing of cookies and other information, and to the data collection, sharing and usage that takes place when you use Google products.”
If your websites are getting visitors from any of the countries in the European Union, you must comply with the EU user consent policy.

“It does not affect any provisions on data ownership in your contract. If your site or app does not have a compliant consent mechanism, you should implement one now. This policy change is being made in response to best practice and regulatory requirements issued by the European data protection authorities. These requirements are reflected in changes that have been recently made on Google’s own websites.”
European Union data protection authorities requested some changes to current practices for obtaining end user consents. It has always been Google’s policy to comply with privacy laws, so we’ve agreed to make certain changes affecting our own products and partners using Google products.

The partnership shows BlackBerry’s reputation for security is still strong, said Kevin Stadtler, president of Stadtler Capital Management Llc. “One shortcoming of the Android platform is security. They’re partnering with BlackBerry in order to directly address that,” Stadtler, who owns BlackBerry stock, said by phone.

Android for Work focuses on three key themes:

>> Enhanced security: New Android security features aimed at protecting business and private data

>> Simplified management: New features to simplify IT administrator experience across both BYOD and corporate-owned devices.

>> Open platform for innovation: Partnerships with OEMs, ISVs and EMMs to leverage Android’s framework to offer greater device choice, applications and functionality.

Google Launches New YouTube App For Kids

Google Launches New YouTube App For Kids.

The YouTube Kids app is designed for curious little minds to dive into a world of discovery, learning, and entertainment. This free app is easy to use and packed full of age-appropriate videos, channels and playlists. YouTube Kids features popular children’s programming, plus kid-friendly content from filmmakers, teachers, and creators all around the world.

The first Google product built from the ground up with little ones in mind. The app makes it safer and easier for children to find videos on topics they want to explore, and is available for free on Google Play and the App Store. YouTube Kids is currently available in the U.S. only.

Now Google is entering into the kids market. According to report, watching the video from Internet is increased by 87 percent.

Parental controls:
Google realize every family is different, so built options into the app that help you control the experience for your kids:

Timer:
Let the app be the bad guy with a built-in timer that lets you limit kids’ screen time. The app alerts your child when the session is over, so you don’t have to. (You’re welcome. ;) )
Sound settings: Sometimes you need a little peace and quiet! You have an option to turn off background music and sound effects, so your kids can keep watching while you catch a breather.

Search settings:
If you’d rather limit your children to just the pre-selected videos available on the home screen, you can turn off search.

Product feedback:
Our goal is to improve YouTube Kids all the time, so we’ve included a space for you to give us your feedback.

Mobile Gaming Predictions 2015

Mobile Gaming Predictions 2015

There is little debate that mobile gaming has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the last seven years. Since the iPhone's launch in 2007, this industry has made ever deeper inroads into more traditional gaming markets, including desktop and console. In fact, there is reason to believe that mobile gaming may surpass console gaming in popularity in the very near future.

This increase in adoption is due in part, of course, to the proliferation of mobile devices. However, it is also the result of mobile devices becoming more capable with each passing year. Companies like Qualcomm, which is the creator of Snapdragon's mobile technology, are pushing the boundaries of what's possible on a mobile device, and the gap between mobile and console is getting smaller every day.

So if there's little doubt that mobile gaming is here to stay, what does the immediate future hold? Here are some trends to look out for.

Better Production Value
The term “mobile gaming” tends to be synonymous with relatively simple side- and vertical-scrollers. Think of popular mobile titles, and games like “Angry Birds” and “Cut the Rope” likely come to mind. This is destined to change. Games like “Call of Duty: Strike Team” have demonstrated quite clearly that the future of mobile is high-quality, fully-immersive titles. Production values will only get better as time marches on (and technology finally catches up with designers' ambitions). Expect to see more console titles make the jump over to mobile in 2015.

More In-game Transactions
In-game transactions play a vital role in the overall revenue strategy for mobile gaming. This is especially true for games that are offered for free. This trend is not likely to change anytime soon. The advantage of an in-game transaction over in-game advertising (which is also set to play a continuing role moving forward) is that the offer taps into an existing desire on the part of the user. By soliciting the player to pay for an upgrade in-game, you are monetizing the experience; by contrast, soliciting a player to pay for a product by way of an advertisement is monetizing the user (and giving away most of the transaction to the advertiser). It should be evident which business model game developers, and consumers, prefer.

More In-game Advertising
We just discussed the idea that in-game transactions will play a larger role in 2015 than ever before. That being said, don't expect in-game advertising to go anywhere. On the contrary, in-game advertising is looking to become more pervasive than ever. Just as Google has monetized YouTube by showing advertisements not only before and after videos, but during videos as well, game companies are looking to monetize the amount of time users spend playing their games. Smartphones and tablets get used on average up to 200 minutes per day, with only a quarter of that time dedicated to communication. That's a lot of screen time, and advertisers are incredibly interested in taking advantage of it.

Android Devices Will Shape the Gaming Environment
Between the popularity of the iPhone and iTunes, Apple has maintained a dominant presence in the mobile gaming market. In fact, gaming revenue for 2014 was approximately $4 billion. However, Android devices have long since surpassed Apple's iPhone in total volume, and Google's Play store is becoming a heavy player in online sales. If Android's share of the market can be maintained or improved upon, we are likely to see a shift in focus to Android-specific games. With Snapdragon's mobile technology making its way into devices from Samsung, HTC, Sony, and Blackberry, among others, the Android platform is becoming incredibly powerful, and this is likely to be noticed by the casual and dedicated gaming communities alike.

If You're a Mobile Gamer, the Future is Bright
Though some analysts have been predicting the death of console gaming for years (none of which has really come to fruition, unless you're Nintendo), everyone seems to universally agree that mobile gaming is here to stay. With mobile platforms becoming near ubiquitous, and the devices themselves becoming more powerful and more capable with each successive generation, there is only one way for the mobile gaming industry to go, and that is up. If you're a mobile gamer yourself, expect to have more high-quality options than you can shake a stick at, and soon!
