Microsoft Is Developing Own Linux Distribution

Microsoft Is Developing Own Linux Distribution

We truly believe that you people don't believe on this Title but its going to be true. As few month earlier Microsoft CEO Satya Nadela said, "Microsoft Loves Linux".

Microsoft’s version of Linux containers that can be managed both through Powershell and Docker’s command-line tools.

Docker and Microsoft are partnering to bring both Windows Server and Docker containers to Windows, and allowing developers to manage them with the standard Docker tools. That’s obviously a major win for Docker but also for developers who have to deploy their applications on Windows Server. Until Microsoft jumped on board, after all, Docker was mainly a Linux technology.

As Microsoft’s Azure CTO Mark Russinovich noted in a blog post earlier this week, “Linux containers require Linux APIs from the host kernel and Windows Server Containers require the Windows APIs of a host Windows kernel, so you cannot run Linux containers on a Windows Server host or a Windows Server Container on a Linux host.”

KAMALA SUBRAMANIAM, she is Principal Architect at Azure Networking wrote,

"At Microsoft, we believe there are many excellent switch hardware platforms available on the market, with healthy competition between many vendors driving innovation, speed increases, and cost reductions. However, what the cloud and enterprise networks find challenging is integrating the radically different software running on each different type of switch into a cloud-wide network management platform. Ideally, we would like all the benefits of the features we have implemented and the bugs we have fixed to stay with us, even as we ride the tide of newer switch hardware innovation.

The Azure Cloud Switch (ACS) is our foray into building our own software for running network devices like switches. It is a cross-platform modular operating system for data center networking built on Linux. ACS allows us to debug, fix, and test software bugs much faster. It also allows us the flexibility to scale down the software and develop features that are required for our datacenter and our networking needs.

ACS believes in the power of Open Networking. ACS together with the open, standardized SAI interface allows us to exploit new hardware faster and enables us to ride the tide of ASIC innovation while simultaneously being able to operate on multiple platforms. Running on Linux, ACS is able to make use of its vibrant ecosystem. ACS allows to use and extend Open Source, Microsoft, and Third Party applications. The main functional blocks from top to the bottom of the ACS stack are shown in the figure below."

Finally Facebook is Working On Dislike Button Said Mark Zuckerberg

Finally Facebook  is Working On Dislike Button said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Now facebook has change its mind. On Tuesday, during the session of Q&A at Company HQ Mark Zuckerberg unveiled that they are working on "Dislike" Button

“I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years,” Zuckerberg said. “Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it.”

"People have asked about the 'dislike' button for many years," Mr Zuckerberg told the audience on Tuesday.
"Probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it."

What users really want is the ability to express empathy,” Not every moment is a good moment.”

Facebook has long shied away from building a “Dislike” button over concerns it would invite rampant negativity. “That isn’t what we’re here to build in the world,” Zuckerberg said.

Lexus Build Working Hoverboard Is Now Real

Lexus Build Working Hoverboard Is Now Real

Luxury vehicle maker Lexus has created a working hoverboard that glides on air just like the one made famous in “Back to the Future 2.” Here's how it works and the caveats. Lexus is the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Toyota.

Lexus engineer complete this project successfully in 1 year.

The hoverboard is constructed from an insulated core, containing HTSLs (high temperature superconducting blocks). These are housed in cryostats - reservoirs of liquid nitrogen that cool the superconductors to -197°C. The board is then placed above a track containing permanent magnets. When the board is cooled to its operating temperature the track’s magnetic flux lines are ‘pinned’ into place, maintaining the hover height of the board.

The balance between a traditional skate park and one that empowers the best ride for the hoverboard required going back to the drawing board.

Some Cool 3D Printed Gadgets That Are Changing The World

Some Cool 3D Printed Gadgets that are Changing the World

Nowadays, sketching a map of a skyscraper takes little time, thanks to 3D. Animation caracters on the TV look real, again thanks to 3D. I no longer feel excited seeing the popularity of 3D skyrocketing because I’m convinced 3D deserves it.

I guess you’d also agree that 3D holds all the aces up its sleeves. It has application in the construction industry, in the aerospace industry, in the toy manufacturing industry and in many other industries. And newer industries are welcoming 3D for obvious reasons.

Gadgets are the future

My mouth starts watering when I come across cool gadgets. I can hardly resist myself from buying them. My love for those fancy tech appliances led me to discover a crossroad between 3D and gadgets. I haven’t yet fully discovered it, and rather in the process of discovering.

In this article, I’ll share with you what I’ve managed to discover so far.

Advanced 3D printers

Behind every achievement of 3D is a printer. As more and more research is going on in this landscape, the printers are getting excellent makeovers. Yesterday’s 3D printers are outdated now, the new printers are getting more equipped and more advanced.

Remember T-1000 from the movie Terminator 2 (1991)? Its body was made of some kind of liquid, allowing it to take whatever shape it wants to take. The idea inspired a company called Carbon 3D to work on a new type of 3D printer.

The technology behind the new printer is called continuous liquid interface production. There’s a projector in the printer, manufactured by Carbon 3D. The projector renders the configuration of an object, and the build platform makes it come in shape by moving up from the UV curable resin.

This is just one example; there are plenty other cool 3D printers and they can change the future for virtual rendering.

3D printed stethoscope

Doctors can now grab themselves a 3D printed stethoscope, which looks and works similar to a non-3D printed, conventional stethoscope. Tarek Loubani, an emergency physician, living in the Gaza Strip is its developer; the stethoscope is outrageously inexpensive as it costs only 30¢.

Loubani described the stethoscope by saying “This stethoscope is as good as any tethoscope out there in the world and we have the data to prove it.” The development of the stethoscope is a part of a larger initiative called The Gila Project, next in line are an electrocardiogram and a pulse oximeter, both 3D printed.

3D printed car

3D printing can hugely benefit the automobile sector. Sergio Marchionne of Fiat-Chrysler proposed a solution to bring the down the operating cost; his solution was to consolidate and eliminate expendability. Of late, the industry observers have realized 3D printing can help to achieve this goal.

The first ever 3D printed car has a flashy name; it’s called Strati. The car looks handsome enough to turn the heads of auto enthusiasts. It has an electric engine, which means it’s environment friendly. Local Motors is the developer. When other manufacturers will embrace the idea, riding a 3D printed car will be all too common.

Google joins hands with Intel

And works towards releasing an Android software development kit (SDK) through a 3D mapping project by Google called Project Tango, and an intelligent technology called RealSense. A RealSense phone will be able to quickly 3D scan a room and understand the interpretations of the design.

The future

The present looks promising. The future will undoubtedly look even more promising. The tech giants have already started to show interest in 3D gadgets, and we can expect state of the art 3D printers to manufacture intricate gadgets in future.

NASA Discover Another Earth By Kepler Space Telescope

Today, NASA is going to announce of another earth discovery. NASA is organizing Teleconference by today and will share about its Kepler space telescope latest discovery.

The first exoplanet orbiting another star like our sun was discovered in 1995. Exoplanets, especially small Earth-size worlds, belonged within the realm of science fiction just 21 years ago. Today, and thousands of discoveries later, astronomers are on the cusp of finding something people have dreamed about for thousands of years - another Earth.

Conference will happen on 23rd July 12pm EST or 9:30pm IST in coming hrs.

About the Mission:
Launched in March 2009, Kepler is the first NASA mission to detect Earth-size planets orbiting distant stars in or near the habitable zone -- the range of distances from a star in which the surface temperature of an orbiting planet might sustain liquid water. The telescope has since confirmed more than 1,000 planets and more than 3,000 planet candidates spanning a wide range of sizes and orbital distances, including those in the habitable zone.

3D Printing Is All Set To Disrupt Manufacturing

3D Printing Is All Set To Disrupt Manufacturing.

The technology of 3D printing is slowly coming to age and beginning to disrupt the manufacturing process, right from design and development till production.

From printing jet engine parts to the soccer cleats, this technology is presently hailed as a revolution in how more products will be developed, produced as well as sold.

The manufacturers, right from the small shops to the multinational companies are crossing the threshold from tinkering with the prototypes to producing the final products. Three dimensional printing is capacitated to shrink the supply chains, save product development times as well as increase customization offerings. Several companies are adopting it in some way or the other, right from experimenting with this technology to making the final product.

Though 3D printing production is now in infancy, it is inevitable. If you follow things closely, you will find several indications of the fact that the shift is already underway. Since the last few years, 3D printing has been the playground of maker community though commercial applications are limited to prototyping. Now, industrial 3D printing is all set to go mainstream and this is expected to revolutionize the economy.

Here are a few ways in which 3D printing production is in use now.

True Rapid Prototyping
Popularly referred to as rapid prototyping, this is not rapid, with the service providers taking about a week to deliver a single piece. Recent breakthroughs in automation, combined with the entry of global distribution companies changed everything, at times leading to same day production as well as shipping. Such changes are collapsing the design cycles dramatically. Thus, the products that needed a month to go through the design changes in the prototyping phase now takes around a week. Products are getting to the market quickly and the companies saving sufficient time and money.

Mass Customization
Even a few years ago, if a knee replacement was necessary, the nurse used to bring a box to the operating room and a doctor chose one among four or five possible designs that he or she felt will resemble the knees. Today, actual knees are scanned and a replica printed prior to the surgery.
This is a mass customization example where huge quantities of an item are produced and each one of them customized. Invisalign has already built a huge business producing 3D printed teeth alignment devices. This helps to offer bespoke devices to each and every customer. With customization on offer at premium rates, most companies are exploring ways to introduce product customization to serve the customers better and increase profits.

Virtual Inventory
The manufacturing companies that are making a new product usually create a supply of spare parts too, producing large quantities that can meet the demand for years. Holding the inventory is quite costly. Costs here include capital for producing the inventory, shrinkage where the parts are lost or stolen, warehousing, insurance, tracking as well as distribution.
So, how can you define company warehousing? Why can’t they be printed on the demand?
With the aid of 3D printing production, you can make whatever you need regardless of the time and place. Virtual inventory aids in improving the efficiency of businesses. Inventories throughout the world will shrink dramatically as soon as the virtual inventory goes mainstream.

Long Tail of Parts
Printing products using the 3D technology not just disrupts the early stages of production where a years’ worth inventory is created; it fundamentally changes the way companies perceive the end of product life. Now, a ten year old refrigerator with broken parts is quite likely to be scrapped. After years of service, the parts produced for it are not even available. Considering the product dead, the manufacturers will not service it either.

But with the aid of 3D production, you can now hold on to digital design parts and print any part as long as you need them. The older but the useful products are never a waste. Their lifespan also need not be determined on the basis of scale production limitations. This alters the very way the engineers and the designers are thinking and planning for products existence well into future.

Today, we find ourselves at the key inflection point inhistory. The options for growth and innovations are endless. Currently, 3D printing production occupies the same status as an email used to two decades ago. Soon to prove a utility of new technology, today, we just get a glimpse of the incredible.

Google Fiber Launched In Four Cities Coming With 1GBPS Internet

Google Fiber Launched In Four Cities in Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, N.C., Nashville Coming with 1GBPS Internet.

Google Fiber starts with a connection that's up to 100 times faster than today's basic broadband speeds. Instant download. Google have committed to bringing Google Fiber to more people. In 2014, Google started working with 34 cities in 9 metro areas across the US to explore building new fiber-optic networks in their communities.

Company also talking with Indian Government to introduce Google Fiber in India . According to news, "Google India spokesperson said that the company continuously engages with the Centre on various programmes. The spokesperson did not comment specifically on the fibre project. However, IT Ministry officials said that some experts from Google’s US operation are expected in India to evaluate the project."

Google fiber is an fiber-optic Internet service which is 100 times faster than average internet.

Press Release:
It’s been nearly five years since we offered to build a fiber-optic network in one U.S. city as an experiment — and were met with overwhelming enthusiasm. Now, Google Fiber is live in Kansas City, Provo and Austin, and we've started to see how gigabit Internet, with speeds up to 100 times faster than today’s basic broadband, can transform cities. It can give them new platforms for economic development and new ways of using technology to improve life for their citizens. And, around the country, it seems to be catching on.
Check out the Kansas City Startup Village and Provo learn-how-to-code hub DevMountain. Take a look at the work of a geneticist whose speedy connection could one day help newborns in intensive care, or how one city's network is connecting a high school classroom to an underwater microscope so students can study oceanic life in the Pacific... from Chattanooga, Tenn. There are many more stories like this—stories about how people are using gigabit internet to spark innovation, inspire creativity, and collaborate in ways they simply couldn't before. And we want to see even more.
So, today, we’re happy to announce that Google Fiber is coming to 18 cities across four new metro areas: Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, and Raleigh-Durham. We can’t wait to see what people and businesses across the Southeast U.S. do with gigabit speeds.
Bringing Google Fiber to these cities is a long-term investment. We’ve been working closely with city leaders over the past year on a joint planning process to get their communities ready for Google Fiber—and now the really hard work begins. Our next step is to work with cities to create a detailed map of where we can put our thousands of miles of fiber, using existing infrastructure such as utility poles and underground conduit, and making sure to avoid things like gas and water lines. Then a team of surveyors and engineers will hit the streets to fill in missing details. Once we’re done designing the network (which we expect to wrap up in a few months), we’ll start construction.
We’re also continuing to explore bringing fiber to five additional metro areas—Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Antonio and San Jose, and will have updates on these potential Fiber cities later this year.
Today, we aren't the only ones talking about gigabit broadband. From the White House to main street, a chorus of new voices is standing up for speed. Just last week during the State of the Union, the President called for faster networks so that innovators and entrepreneurs can build the next big idea. New research from the Fiber to the Home Council shows gigabit networks are contributing billions of dollars in economic growth. Communities across America are demanding more speed for their own homes and businesses, and we’re going to keep doing our part to help.
